Self Defense Training

The core of SHIELD 2.0 After School Program is SHIELD Women's Self Defense training, a very practical self defense training designed empower a smaller person against a much bigger opponent. 


SHIELD training has been featured across the world on BBC World News, BuzzFeed, E!, Hallmark, France 24, Good Morning America, NBC, and more.


This course will teach your daughter how to have confidence and how to be safe around bullies and strangers! They will learn how to  do: Palm Strikes, Elbow Strikes, Knee Strikes, Kicking, Blocking, Takedowns, and Grappling! 

It’s awesome! 


The drills we do are fun exercises that are designed to increase your ability to move and change direction and body positioning, quickly and effectively, while under control. It increases quick  reflexes, coordination, balance, speed, and agility. 

Meditation

SHIELD 2.0 After School Program includes Meditation. Meditation is a practice to control one's mind. 


Studies suggest that kids who practice mindfulness meditation tend to develop positive traits such as:

  • Increased self-control
  • Better attentiveness in class 
  • More empathy & respect for others
  • Help manage challenging conditions such as stress, depression, ADHD and hyperactivity. 

Nutrition

Understanding Nutrition is essential for anyone. And to learn early on is highly beneficial. This program will help your daughter leads a healthy life from early in life! 


Nutrition is a part of SHIELD 2.0 After School Program. Our Nutrition Class  will demystify the complex subject of what "eating well" means. It will include informative talks, hands-on instruction, and, of course, tasting deliciously healthful food!

Yoga

Yoga quiets down the mind, improve flexibility and challenge the body to perform as directed. Yoga is a part of SHIELD 2.0 After School Program. 


Benefits of Yoga Include:

  • Manage stress through breathing, awareness and healthy movement
  • Build concentration
  • Increase their confidence and positive self-image

Assertiveness Training

Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive. It is about communicating your wants and needs while at the same time respecting other's wants and needs. 


It is well documented in the field of psychology and psychotherapy that 'Assertiveness' is a learnable skill and mode of communication.


In our After School Program, assertiveness is about speaking freely while respecting others. We teach the girls about having clear boundaries throughout the program.


Assertiveness is a game changer in life.  :)

Agility & Core Workouts

SHIELD 2.0 After School Program includes Agility and Core Workouts. Having a strong body helps in all activities in our daily lives. 


Your daughter will become physically stronger, more balance with increased agility & coordination.

Who do you accept in the After School Program?

Our after school program in Culver City is girls ages 5 to 17 years old. Classes will be split by age groups. All lessons are age appropriate. 


Our culture of being the BEST means we only include the BEST programs, we only hire the BEST instructors and coaches, and we only accept the BEST students in our after school program. Honor and respect will be taught from day one. Misbehaved student who cannot follow instructions will not fit in our program. 


There is ZERO tolerance on bullying.


We are not a Daycare or Child Care or Babysitters.  


SHIELD 2.0 After School Program is a structured program exclusively for girls, with carefully selected life-skill lessons led by professionals in their fields, specifically chosen to empower the young ladies as they grow into adulthood. 


Structured Program to increase Motor Skills, Strength, Focus & Discipline

  • Balance!  -  Balance is defines as the correct body placement within a space or determined movement. 
  • Coordination!   -  Coordination is the physical ability that allows a person to  perform orderly movements that are aimed toward executing a specific  technical action. 
  • Speed!  -  Speed is the basic physical ability to perform gestures in the shortest amount possible. 
  • Strength!  -  Strength is defined as the subject’s physical ability to lift, support or defeat a weight of mass by muscle action. 
  • Agility!  -  Agility is the ability to react rapidly with adequate movement to changing situations. 
  • Spatial Perception!  -   We define Spatial Perception as the knowledge of the environment and  its surroundings. It is also known as situational awareness. It involves the subject’s awareness of their situation and possible situations in their surrounding space. 
  • Body Perception!  -   Body perception is a cognitive structure that provides the human body  recognition in any situation and the information needed to establish  relations with the environment, including self awareness, and its  position in space.

This after school program is hosted and sponsored by SHIELD Women's Self Defense System®


Our Instructors are professionals in their fields: Certified Nutritionist, Certified Yoga Teacher, Professional Dance Teacher, etc. They are carefully selected to hold the highest standard of our Program. 


We seek 'passion' and 'expertise' in each Instructor. We hire only the best  instructors! Your daughter will LOVE them!

What are the days & hours? Do you provide FREE transportation? YES!

We offer FULL TIME and PART TIME  After School Programs:

- FULL TIME 5 days/wk (Mon-Fri) 

- PART TIME 2 days/wk (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu)


SHIELD 2.0 After School Program is in operation when schools are in session.

 

FULL TIME Program

5 Days/Week - Monday to Friday 

From school dismissal to 5pm. Parents pick up by 6pm.


PART TIME Program

2 Days/Week - Select Tue/Thu or Mon/Wed from school dismissal to 5pm. Parents must pick up by 6pm. 


CURRENTLY WE ONLY HAVE PART TIME TUESDAY/THURSDAY available.

It's easy to join our After School Program in Culver City! Pay Registration Fee and select one of the two affordable memberships that will fit your child's needs: 

- Full Time (5 days/wk Mon-Fri) 

- Part Time (2 days/wk M/W or T/T)


Full Time Program membership  includes FREE transportation from schools we serve, 5 days per week. Open for 2019/2020 school year!


We also offer a Part Time Program for 2 days per week. Currently Part Time Program has a special pricing of $55/week, including FREE transportation from schools we serve. Currently, we have Tuesday & Thursday open for this school year ending in June 2019. Registration for the next school year is also open.
