SHIELD WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE CLASSES


We Offer 6 Types of Programs:
1. WEEKLY Intensive Training (2 hr classes, once/wk - 5 weeks or 3 months)
2. CONDITIONING Refresher Self Defense Training (1-hr classes, offered 3 days/week) 
3.
ONE DAY Crash Course (10am to 5pm)
4. TEEN Comprehensive After School Program (1 hr classes, twice/wk, 3 mos min.)
5. 
TEEN Intensive Course (4 Days Crash Course, 2.5 hrs classes)
6. PRIVATE - Individual or Group Lessons/Corporate Training 


WEEKLY Intensive Training (2-hr classes | once/week)
Class size: 12 students max (See Schedule Below)

Choose: 5 Week Training or 3 Months Training

The WEEKLY Intensive 2-hr Classes can be taken as a 5-Week or 3-Months Program. The 5-Week Program is the minimum you can take in the Intensive 2 Hr Classes. The 3 Month option gives you more time to practice and become more proficient with the skills.

The 2-hr Intensive Classes are offered in small settings, maximum 10 students. This course uses realistic training scenarios to prepare students with effective self defense skills. You will learn how to get out from common assault for women, i.e. grab from behind, frontal and side attack, hair pull, chokehold, and various ground fighting skills. Assault with deadly weapon is also covered in this course.  You can miss and make up one class in the 5 week course. In the 3 months option, you can miss and make up four classes. Start date is the same for 5-Week or 3-Month program. 

Students completing this course will experience what it is like to be attacked from all sides, being jolted off the ground, and fight back with full force against a padded assailant. Students will learn how to use the core and lower body strength to generate power in striking back. This Course also covers safety tips for women, how to use one's voice as a weapon, discussions on actual case studies on sexual assault incidents, and studies on rape survivors in Southern California. 


SHIELD Conditioning Training (1-hr classes | multiple days/week)

SHIELD Conditioning Program is a full body workout that is fun, challenging and empowering. This course is suitable for those who have taken SHIELD self defense classes in the past. This is a refresher training class that will keep your skills sharp, improve your balance and stamina, and strengthen your core muscles. It is one of a kind a high intensity workout that uses real life self defense skills in a FUN & upbeat environment. The training builds up your stamina and increases your core strength. This class trains you in using skills that are useful in real life self defense situations: street fight.

The class combines cardio and core strengthening workouts. The drills we do in class will get you in shape, increase stamina, improve balance, makes you more grounded and increase precisions in executing kicks, punches, elbow and knee strikes. This program appeals to all levels of fitness in a non-intimidating environment.  



ONE DAY Crash Course (10am to 5pm)
Class size: 8 students max (See Schedule Below)

This ONE DAY Crash Course is loaded with everything you need to know that is covered in the 5-week Intensive Course in one single day. This course is designed for small class size (5-8 students) to ensure each participant gets the full attention of the instructor. We go through the various assault scenarios throughout the day. By the end of the day, you will gain the knowledge and practice of fighting back with full force against a padded assailant. We go through ways to get out from common assault for women, i.e. grab from behind, hair pull, chokehold, and various pinned down on the ground positions. You will practice executing palm strikes, knee strikes, elbow strikes and kicks. There is a one hour break for lunch. This training is suitable for those who do not have the time to commit more than one day to train. 



TEEN Comprehensive After School Program
1 hr classes, 2 days/week; Tue/Thu 4-5pm
Ongoing course, 3 months minimum

The TEEN Comprehensive After School Program is an ongoing after school self defense training that is suitable for teenage girls ages 14-19 years old. This is the most comprehensive self defense training for teenage girls. The Course focuses on common issues teenagers face in college or high school. Class discussion includes dating violence, recognizing signs of abusive partner, situational awareness, boundary setting, and studies on sexual assault in Southern California. From time to time, we will be inviting guest speakers from rape crisis center and police department to speak with the teens about the reality of sexual assault.

Classes meet twice per week for 1 hour each class. This course is designed to build the skills, stamina and strength for students, over time. The warm up drills consists of stretching, grounding, and core strengthening exercises. We go through ways to get out from common assault for women, i.e. grab from behind, hair pull, chokehold, wrist grab, and various pinned down on the ground positions. Students will be drilled on executing palm strikes, elbow strikes, knee strikes and kicks. They will also practice using their voice as a weapon.

Students will experience what it feels like to be jolted off the ground and fight back with full force against a padded assailant. The training is conducted in a safe environment where the skills are built from one class to the next.

A minimum of 3 months is required for this program. Students can continue the training after 3 months on a month to month basis. This program will build the skills into muscle memory or reflexes. For teenagers, we highly recommend this program. 


TEEN Intensive Course (4 Days - 10:00am to 12:30pm) 
Class size: max 10 students (See Schedule Below)


The TEEN Intensive Course is a 4-Day self defense training that is suitable for teenage girls ages 14-19 years old. Classes meet everyday for 2.5 hours each class, for four days in a row. Students go through the skills in four days with no break. This is a good program for those who do not have the time to train for a longer period. This program will give the students plenty of practice with the daily training. This is a great Crash Course to learn self defense in a short period of time.
